UNDER ATMOSPHERE QUENCHING

Cooling operation, steels previously heated, by immersion in a fluid, by spraying a fluid, or by blowing air or a controlled atmosphere. Cooling is carried out in a controlled manner (speed, temperature) depending on the characteristics targeted.
Controlled atmosphere quenching consists of cooling by injection of protective gas, inducing a slow cooling medium.
